Railways

Kunming has four railway stations. The main one is the Nanyao Station, about four kilometers (about 2.5 miles) from the center of the city, which would take about 10 RMB within 15 minutes by Taxi to.

Highway

Highways radiate to places inside and outside Yunnan Province, as well as to neighboring countries. You can also choose long-distance buses to Kunming from Beijing (National Highway 108), Lanzhou (213), and Shanghai (320), Fuzhou (324) or other cities.

Waterways


China is constructing a series of dams on the Mekong to develop it as a waterway and source of power; the first was completed at Manwan in 1993. It built two wharfs with an annual handling capacity of 300,000 to 400,000 tons each and four wharfs with an annual handling capacity of 100,000 tons each.

Airports

The Wujiaba International Airport in Kunming is in the southeastern outskirts of Kunming City, only about 4 km away from Kunming downtown area. From the Kunming International Airport you can fly to 74 domestic and international destinations, such as Lijiang, Dali, Xishuangbanna, Shangri-la, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hongkong, Taipei, Seoul, Singapore, etc. A new airport for Kunming, to be built east of the city at Dabanqiao, began construction in 2006, but is not expected to be completed until 2015.
